LEAPS – Continuously adding value to your business

14.03.24

As we approach Easter 2024, LEAPS would like to bring you an update about how we are unique in what we offer to our members and transforming our safety offer to clients.

We have been established for just over two years and from a standing start with no operating members or inspection bodies we are now at over 100 sites throughout the UK and ROI with an inspection body base approaching 20.

Due to our core offer continually improving we want to provide some perspective on what you get when you join LEAPS. It’s not an exhaustive list, but we believe it’s all a part of the value add that  makes a difference to our clients:

  • LEAPS is the only scheme that certifies operations, maintenance, and inspection independently. Providing added assurance to stakeholders that you are managing your safety risks.

  • LEAPS issues the declaration of compliance (DOC) - not your Inspection Body (IB). We are the only scheme to do this which gives an added layer of protection to our clients.

  • We offer assurance visits to independently validate your operations/maintenance which in turn has attracted insurance premium discounts for those sites that take advantage of this.

  • We certify any leisure equipment from high ropes, soft play, trampolines, roller coasters or anything else that requires it under one scheme to the same standard. If you have a diverse leisure offer, then we can help.

  • Any IB that joins LEAPS is put through a thorough process to ensure they are competent to carry out their service to you. All IBs have some form of assurance to prove their competence and they are all monitored within the scheme at a LEAPS site. This more than ticks the legal box of ensuring you use a competent person to regularly inspect your assets and LEAPS can demonstrate this should it be required.

  • LEAPS has uniquely aligned with the UK engineering specification and certifies IBs against the qualification required for professional registration (nobody else does this). This, along with the LEAPS asset categories aligned to complexity/risk (again unique to LEAPS), means that the chance of an inspector working outside of their competency level is vastly reduced.

  • The controller joins the scheme so we have direct contact with you, the client, so that we can signpost as required when you need it.

  • Within the LEAPS group, we have a wealth of experience, knowledge, and competence to help all LEAPS members with the challenges that exist in our industry. All LEAPS members have access to this service.

  • Our governance is made up of Chartered Engineers, and legal and H&S professionals to ensure we always remain compliant with legal requirements. This also gives us the agility to make quick decisions that are right for our clients.

  • Our MD is positioned on the fairgrounds joint advisory committee, the BALPPA H&S committee, all of the working groups for the rewrite of HSG 175 and the national committee for EN 13814 (Safety of amusement rides) meaning LEAPS stays ahead of changes that affect its members and provides updates when required.

  • LEAPS has a continuous professional development programme for technical and operational staff that runs throughout the year to standardise training, continuously improve, and provide demonstratable evidence that a LEAPS registered operator is developing their staff.

  • You have control over your inspection resource with access to our Microsoft Power app which keeps all your information securely in one place. From here you access your DOC and keep your digital information safe and secure.

On top of this, we are experts in all the other standards that you may need for the different attractions that you operate, providing a one-stop scheme for all your certification needs.

If you join LEAPS then you will be able to demonstrate that you have independent assurance that you are managing your safety risks. You will also be certifying your operations and all leisure assets in one scheme and you will be elevating your technical and operational professionalism.

If you would like to discuss what your operation would look like with LEAPS then please get in touch at enquiries@leapscheme.com and a member of our ever-growing team will get in touch.
